Tasting Notes: This pure Cabernet Sauvignon is intense with a deep purple red color. The nose is striking, with hints of dark red fruit, among which raspberries stand out, as well as violets. On the palate, balance reigns supreme. The tannins and acidity are perfectly integrated with the richness and silkiness of this vintage. Finish is long-lasting and fresh.
Estate History: Casanova di Neri was established in 1971, just 4 years after Brunello earned DOC status. Although hailing from south Florence, Giovanni Neri chose remote Montalcino to establish his winery. Half a century ago, Neri joined just 30 producers; now the vineyard remains a distinguished producer among over 250. With time, the family expanded their holdings, acquiring Cerretalto, one of the most prestigious vineyards in the region. In the early 1990s, his son, Giacomo, took over, continuing the family’s commitment to excellence. This generational effort came to fruition in 2006, when their 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova was named "Wine of the Year" by Wine Spectator. They were again awarded in 2007, when their 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto received 100 points from the same publication. The Neri family attributes their success to Montalcino's unique terroir which produces wines of exceptional depth and character, but it is also clear that they have a standard of excellence that has created beautiful wines for some fifty years.
